The viewer providing us with the "mama fox" photo said there is an entire family of them being seen around his mother-in-law's back porch. He added that the family consists of seven "kits" (that's baby foxes to you city folk) and a papa fox. I sure hope they can get more photos, especially of the "kids"!

ALFRED HAS BEARS TOO! (video)

Click on the photo of Boo Boo the Bear to view a short video of a visit he made to our yard back in May. (this is a large file that may take a while to load depending on the speed of your Internet connection. . . . have patience!)

Boo Boo is a young male (2 years old) who was pushed away by his mother. Now he's trying to find a place to "call his own" and thinks it's going to be in our back yard! That is not about to happen (ha).

Boo Boo is actually a fairly friendly bear, rather timid, but not skittish like some we've had visit. I have some pretty decent still photos of him that I will post later.

ALFRED HAS BEARS TOO!

These photos were taken by my hunter's camera or as I refer to it, "my night critter cam".

The bread on the ground is what we put out for the many birds who visit for lunch & dinner but, as you will see, they aren't the only ones with a taste for old hotdog buns.

P.S.  ignore the date/time on each photo. It resets every time I change  batteries and I'm too lazy to fix it.

During our snow storm of 19 December 2008, I managed to get these shots.

Ok, smile! Do you think it's snowing? Do you see anything at the end of the road on the right? Same shot a few seconds later, zoomed in a little.

Backyard visitors on 21 December 2008!

These two fellows were traveling together. . . one a legitimate 6 pointer and the other a not so legitimate 8 pointer. If you aren't sure what "not so legitimate" means, look carefully at the antlers on the one I list as having 8 points. All points are the minimum 1" or better, but not (shall we say) properly positioned.

Earlier in the week, while on a short fishing trip to Alma Lake (pond) southwest of Wellsville, I managed to take these two photos that I'm sure will be found interesting to most.

I apologize for the quality of the photos, the conditions were beyond gloomy with a lot of rain coming down. All considering, I'm glad they came out as well as they did. I did notice the "white spots" in the distance and used the camera's zoom capability to see if I could bring them in closer. However, I did not know what the spots were until I loaded the photos onto my computer.

The photo on the left is the original photo, on the right has the area of interest circled so you can give thought to what the mystery might be. CLICK each photo for an enlarged view.
